How long does assembly really take?
Honestly: families report 15 to 25 hours of DIY for the bigger sets, usually a weekend with two adults. Every part is pre-cut, pre-drilled and numbered, and the free BILT 3D app guides every step. Prefer not to? Our team builds it in a day: add professional assembly above.
What does the 5-year warranty cover?
Wooden parts: 5 years against rot and structural defects, with no maintenance conditions attached. Plastic and metal parts: 2 years. A real person handles claims, not a form.
Is it actually safe?
Certified to EN 71 and ASTM, the European and US toy-safety standards. Every beam is sanded smooth and pre-stained, swing chains are coated so little fingers can't get pinched, and the set is anchored with 40 cm steel ground anchors: no wobble, no concrete. A grown-up nearby for the small ones.
Why do your age ranges differ from the certification?
Every set we sell is certified for ages 3 to 12. The range on each page is our own recommendation, from years of selling and assembling these sets. A twelve-year-old gets bored on a small set within minutes, and a bored child starts playing rough. The big frames are built to take that; the smaller ones are not. So we cap the age where the set stops being interesting, not where the certificate does.
How does delivery work for something this big?
By pallet to your kerb or gate, free anywhere in the EU. The driver won't carry it to the back garden, so have a helper or trolley ready. You'll get the delivery date before you pay.
What ground do I need? Do I need to anchor it?
Flat grass, rubber tiles or bark. No concrete, ever: the set stands on 40 cm steel ground anchors, included and required. Leave 2 m clear around the set on every side as a safe play zone.
What if the kids don't love it?
Every Kids Play set includes our 60-Day Guarantee. If it isn't the hit you hoped for, tell us within 60 days of delivery. Take it apart, pack it into the original boxes (so keep them) and we arrange collection. A collection fee and a 15% restocking deduction apply, both stated before we book, and the rest is refunded once the set is back with us.

Not one rot claim.
Cedar’s own oils keep rot out, so the set outlasts the childhood. Since 2007, not one of the Backyard Discovery sets we have sold has come back to us rotten.
Spruce sets are pressure-treated to resist rot. Cedar does it with its own oils, so staining is for looks, never for protection.
Cedar stays cool in full sun, and its tight knots mean boards that don’t crack and catch small hands.
Our 5-year warranty has no maintenance conditions. Over the years the wood greys and picks up dirt; a wash and a fresh coat of stain bring it back to new whenever you like.
“Sturdy” is the word parents use in reviews. Every joint is bolted with steel hardware, the swing beam sits in powder-coated brackets, and six ground anchors hold the legs.
And yes, it smells of cedar.

To earn the EN 71 mark, a lab tries to trap a head, a finger or a hood string in every gap, and to tip the frame over. It has to fail.
What the lab did
Three groups of tests, run by independent labs, not by the maker. Every EN 71 set goes through them.
Head, neck and finger probes in every gap. A toggle on a cord dragged down the slide. The frame loaded and pulled with the anchors in.
A flame held to the wood, the stain and the plastics, and the spread timed against a limit.
Stain, plastics and wood tested for heavy metals, softeners and banned wood preservatives. Nothing above the toy limits.

The swing set is made from 100% cedar. With small, tight knot structure, your lumber will be less likely to develop small cracks emanating from knots. Our durable cedar wood is rot resistant and highly resistant to natural decay. All lumber is pre-stained for a smooth and clear appearance, as well as cut and stamped with the part number to help speed up the building process. Some pilot-hole drilling may be required.

Do I need to treat the wood with sealants to prevent rot?
No toxic chemicals are needed. We construct every Kids Play set using 100% premium cedar. Cedar has a tight knot structure and produces natural organic oils that inherently resist decay, moisture, and insects. The wood arrives pre-stained for a beautiful, splinter-free finish right out of the box.
Do I need carpentry skills to assemble the playset?
Not at all. Every piece of lumber is pre-cut, clearly stamped with a part number, and ready for assembly (though minor pilot-hole drilling is occasionally required). When paired with our interactive 3D BILT® app, the DIY process is visually guided step-by-step so you never have to guess which bolt goes where.
How does the 60-Day Guarantee work?
Simply: if your kids aren't outside more, we'll take it back. You have 60 days from delivery to decide. To return a set, disassemble it and pack it into the original boxes, keep them until you're sure, then we arrange collection from your home. A collection fee and a 15% restocking deduction apply, both stated before we book, and we refund the rest once the set is back with us. The guarantee covers every Kids Play set.
What kind of activities are included beyond standard swings?
